From May 19 to 30, Nsaka Sandrine, a fashion design faculty member from Liverpool John Moores University (UK), led eight students on their third visit to the School of Textile and Fashion to further deepen cooperation in the field of fashion education. Dean Xin Binjie, Associate Dean Qu Hongjian, and several faculty members of the School warmly received the delegation.
The 12-day exchange program was rich in content and highly productive. Faculty and students from both universities conducted joint workshops centered on “fashion design.” Chinese and British students formed mixed teams and completed full-process projects—from concept development to final presentation—integrating Eastern aesthetics with contemporary Western design language. On May 20, the visiting delegation attended the School’s 2025 graduation showcase for the Fashion and Apparel Design program and spoke highly of the students’ work. On May 28, both sides participated together in the “Liverpool in Shanghai Day” fashion runway show hosted by Shanghai Normal University, where eight collaborative outfits produced by the Chinese and British teams made an impressive debut. In addition, the British faculty and students experienced traditional cultural activities such as calligraphy. Student Amy remarked that these practices inspired her design thinking and that she plans to incorporate traditional Chinese elements into her future work.
This exchange further consolidated the cooperative partnership between the two institutions. It not only enhanced students’ professional competence, but also set a strong example for Sino–UK collaboration in fashion education.
