From November 12 to 14, 2025, the “Singing Youth, Affection for Xining” Shanghai University Student Cultural Volunteers Exchange Activity in Qinghai was held in Xining, with sessions conducted at Golog Xining Ethnic Middle School and Qinghai Minzu University. Guided by the Working Committee of Education and Health of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, the activity was sponsored by the Shanghai Education System Network Culture Development Research Center of East China Normal University. It was co-organized by the Xining Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Qinghai Minzu University, Qinghai University of Technology, Golog Xining Ethnic Middle School, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Shanghai University of Sport, Shanghai University of Engineering Science, and the Affiliated Opera School of Shanghai Theatre Academy. The fashion show “Fashion Journey · Weaving Back to Xining” presented by performance major students from our university wowed the audience. Moreover, the unique fashion exchange between Shanghai and Qinghai students after the show sparked brilliant sparks from the collision of Shanghai-style creativity and Tibetan charm.
All costumes in the fashion show were designed and crafted by students from the School of Textiles and Fashion of our university. Integrating modern design concepts into simple cuts, the works fully demonstrated the agility and sophistication of Shanghai-style fashion. Performance major students interpreted the connotation of the costumes with professional catwalk skills, and every gesture highlighted the school's distinctive teaching achievements in full-chain talent training through industry-education integration, earning warm applause from teachers and students present.
After the performance, the interactive exchange session became the highlight. Students from Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Golog sat together, actively sharing their costume design ideas, while local students enthusiastically introduced the pattern meanings and cultural inheritance of Tibetan costumes. When Shanghai-style fashion met Tibetan pulu robes, students from both sides excitedly launched costume exchange and styling activities.
This exchange was not only a visual feast but also a cultural dialogue. Taking fashion as a medium, students from our university built a bridge for cultural communication between Shanghai and Qinghai, enabling the integration and coexistence of creativity and tradition through interaction, and writing a vivid footnote for cultural exchanges between the two regions.
