On November 7, 2025, the “Siqi Lecture Hall” series lecture organized by the Teacher Development Sub-center of the School of Textiles and Fashion was held in Room 506 of the Administration Building. With the theme “Polishing Jade into Treasure, Forging Code into Thinking—Intellectual Reconstruction of Traditional Jade Culture Courses,” the lecture invited Zhou Zhengyu, doctoral supervisor from Tongji University, as the keynote speaker.
Professor Zhou Zhengyu has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the fields of gemology and jade culture education. He is not only the leader and lecturer of several national first-class undergraduate courses and high-quality online open courses but also has won many honors, including the first prize in the 4th National University Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition and the special prize in the Shanghai University Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition. He has long been committed to promoting the integration of traditional culture and modern teaching concepts, accumulating rich experience in curriculum construction and teaching reform.
Centering on how to realize the “intellectual reconstruction” of traditional jade culture courses, Professor Zhou combined the teaching practice of his courses such as “Appreciation of Chinese Jade and Jade Culture” and “Jewelry Appreciation” to explore how to integrate the traditional wisdom contained in jade culture with modern thinking training through teaching innovation in the new era, realizing the transformation from “knowledge transmission” to “thinking forging.” He emphasized that “polishing jade” is not only the inheritance of craftsmanship but also the shaping of character and the refinement of thinking, and students should be guided to achieve the sublimation of “forging code into thinking” through curriculum design.
The lecture attracted teachers from various colleges, with an enthusiastic on-site response. Professor Zhou’s explanation was in-depth yet accessible, featuring both theoretical height and practical guiding significance, providing valuable ideas for the teaching innovation of traditional cultural and educational content.
