On the afternoon of May 27th, the School of Textile and Clothing and the School of International Education held an online meeting between teachers and students of all English undergraduate majors in Textile Engineering. Professor Xin Binjie, vice president of the School of Textile and Clothing, Mr.Qian Ji Yubing, director of the Office of the School of International Students of International Education, Mr.Ge Suya and nearly 40 teachers and students majoring in English attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Mr.Gao Weihong of Textile and Clothing College.
At the meeting, Xin Binjie, vice president of the School of Textile and Clothing Technology, made a comprehensive professional introduction to the freshmen international students from four aspects: professional orientation, teachers, training program and teaching and scientific research achievements. Teacher Qian Ji Yibing introduced the role of the School of International Education in Chinese language and cultural learning for international students, emphasized the importance of improving language ability, and put forward suggestions for the subsequent study of professional courses. The participating teachers and students had a heated, in-depth and detailed discussion on some issues of common concern to freshmen and sophomores, such as how to carry out online practice, how to ensure the quality of online teaching, whether the consistent online and offline teaching content, employment and further study opportunities, and when to come to China. Professional teachers have put forward requirements and suggestions for students' course study in the future, hoping that students can attend class carefully, complete every homework in time, and get good results.
In the context of the global pandemic and the general policy of dynamic zero clearance in China, most international students take online classes abroad and are unable to come to China for the time being. Therefore, in addition to their professional and language learning problems, they also face all kinds of difficulties and anxiety in life and psychology. This symposium between teachers and students has enhanced the relationship between international students and professional teachers, eliminated students' doubts about online completion of their studies, enhanced their interest and confidence in professional learning, and provided a clear direction for future learning planning. The students all expressed that they were very satisfied with the teachers' teaching and were very grateful for their hard work to overcome the difficulties brought about by the epidemic and study hard to finish their studies.
It is understood that as one of the first three all English undergraduate professional, textile engineering English professional is committed to creating international influence of English textile professional education platform, cultivating the sense of love for China, with international vision, high-quality textile professionals, for textile education, science and technology, culture, economy and trade and other fields of global cooperation and win-win service. Since its inception in 2020, the major has recruited 24 international students from six countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Comoros, Morocco, Congo (RC) and Ghana, making important contributions to the international development strategy of our university.
