Todeepen international education cooperation and cultivate compositetalents in textile and apparel with an international perspective, theSchool of Textilesand Fashion took proactiveactions and established contact with Vancouver Community College(VCC) in Canada. On the morning of October 15, 2024, an internationalexchange and cooperation seminar was held in Art Building C210.Attendees included Xin Binjie, Dean of theSchoolof Textiles and Fashion,Qu Hongjian, Vice Dean, Wang Junli, Deputy Technical Vice Presidentof Shanghai Jialinjie Textile Technology Co., Ltd., and Saray Murrayfrom Vancouver Community College in Canada.
Foundedin 1965, Vancouver Community College (VCC) is one of the largest andoldest public community colleges in British Columbia, Canada. Thecollege offers a diverse range of programs and majors, with a strongemphasis on practical education and close collaboration withindustry. VCC's International Education department also providesEnglish as a Second Language (ESL) courses to help internationalstudents improve their language skills and better integrate into theacademic and living environment.
Duringthe seminar, both parties first introduced the overall situation oftheir respective colleges. Dean Xin Binjie expressed that theSchoolof Textiles and Fashion ofShanghai University of Engineering Science has always been committedto cultivating high-quality talents in textile and apparel, and hopedthat through this exchange, they could further broaden theirinternational horizons and enhance the college's internationalinfluence.
SarayMurray provided a detailed introduction to VCC's educationalcharacteristics, program offerings, and international cooperationprojects. She expressed that VCC highly values its cooperation withtheSchool of Textiles andFashion of ShanghaiUniversity of Engineering Science and hopes that both parties canachieve fruitful results in talent cultivation, scientific researchcooperation, and other areas.
Bothparties conducted in-depth discussions on intentions forinternational exchange and cooperation and agreed that thiscooperation is of great significance for enhancing the internationalstatus and influence of both colleges. They expressed theircommitment to working together to continuously achieve new results ininternational exchange and cooperation.
