From July 10 to 12, the 2026 Textile Engineering Professional Development Seminar, jointly held with the Textile Engineering Subcommittee of the Teaching Steering Committee for Textile Majors and the Deans' Joint Meeting, was successfully hosted at Shaoxing University. Representing our university, Xin Binjie (Dean of the School of Textiles and Fashion), Gao Weihong (Deputy Director of the Textile Engineering Department), and key faculty member Ou Kangkang attended the event to discuss professional development strategies with experts and scholars from across the country.
Co-organized by the Teaching Steering Committee for Textile Majors of the Ministry of Education and the China Textile and Apparel Education Society, the conference featured opening speeches by Zhao Yang (President of Shaoxing University), Ji Xiaofeng (President of the China Textile and Apparel Education Society), and Yu Chong (Director of the Teaching Steering Committee). Ding Xin (Director of the Textile Professional Accreditation Committee) delivered a keynote address titled New Standards Bring New Requirements. Subsequent special reports were given by Dong Kuiyong (President of the China Cotton Textile Industry Association), Liu Yong (Executive Vice Dean of Tiangong University), Jiang Jinhua (Vice Dean of Donghua University), Xia Zhigang (Dean of Wuhan Textile University), and Zou Zhuanyong (Dean of Shaoxing University). Our faculty members listened attentively and took detailed notes, gaining valuable insights into advanced experiences and innovative measures in professional construction, discipline development, and talent cultivation from peer institutions.
This participation not only strengthened exchanges and cooperation with domestic textile institutions but also provided significant references and ideas for our key tasks, including the connotative development of the Textile Engineering major, the application for doctoral degree authorization, and professional accreditation. The attending faculty expressed their commitment to translating the conference outcomes into concrete actions to cultivate more applied and innovative talents in textile engineering for regional industrial upgrading.
