On the morning of June 24, the School of Textiles and Fashion invited Zhang Fuye, General Manager of Shanghai PUREMARS Home Products Co., Ltd., to the Weaving Technology (Full English) class. He delivered a special lecture titled Digitization Energize Traditional Textile Industry to the 2024 international students of the Textile Engineering major.
A graduate of Roger Williams University and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Mr. Zhang took over the Shanghai-based company in 2012. During the lecture, he elaborated on how digital technology is reshaping the traditional textile industry chain. He highlighted the company's breakthroughs in eco-friendly digital printing and independent R&D of nano-water-based inks, demonstrating how zero-wastewater and zero-emission green production processes achieve sustainability. Using practical cases, he shared insights on optimizing supply chain management, reducing costs, and improving efficiency through digital means, presenting a vivid picture of the industry's digital transformation. In the interactive session, international students engaged in in-depth discussions with Mr. Zhang regarding sustainable material applications, global supply chain challenges, and digital transformation paths for SMEs.
