On the morning of June 1, Professor Chuanlan Liu from Louisiana State University was invited to our school to deliver an academic lecture titled Reimagining Fashion Education and Research in the Age of AI, Sustainability, and Digital Transformation at the Culture House on the first floor of the Administration Building. Zhu Junxuan, Party Secretary of the School of Textiles and Fashion; Professor Xin Binjie, Dean of the school; along with relevant faculty members and representatives of graduate and undergraduate students attended the event. The lecture was hosted by Professor Xin Binjie.

Professor Chuanlan Liu is a tenured professor and the Doris L & Jules A. Carville, Jr. Professor of Human Ecology in the Department of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising at Louisiana State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Integrated Textile and Apparel Science and an MBA from Auburn University. Her research areas cover consumer behavior, digital transformation in fashion, AI-driven innovation, sustainable fashion, and smart textiles, with over 70 papers published in authoritative domestic and international journals.

During the lecture, Professor Liu systematically introduced the transformation of fashion higher education in the United States from a ready-to-wear center to data-driven, human-centric innovation, and AI-enhanced creativity. She compared the different training models of research universities and specialized design schools and shared her unique insights on how to critically, ethically, and creatively integrate AI. The lecture was warmly received by the faculty and students present. One faculty member noted that the lecture provided a valuable reference for our school's Tri-Rotor model of cultivating application-oriented talents. A student remarked that Professor Liu's point that AI-generated patterns lack artistic design concepts was thought-provoking. The lecture concluded with warm applause.
