On the morning of December 12, the School of Textiles and Fashion and the Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Clean Production for Textile Chemistry at Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) invited Professor Song Liu from the University of Manitoba, Canada, to deliver a report titled Material Solutions: Addressing Bacterial and Viral Infections. The report was held in Room 5422 of Building 5. Xin Binjie, Dean of the School of Textiles and Fashion; Qu Hongjian, Vice Dean; Professor Wang Jiping, Director of the Center; and others attended the exchange.

Professor Liu delved into the research and development process and application effects of reusable antimicrobial fabrics, as well as the application of biomimetic wound dressings in intelligent, real-time diagnostic wound care. The research findings provide a more sustainable and effective solution for combating drug-resistant pathogens and are of great significance for the care of complex wounds.
Song Liu is a Professor of Polymer Science and Engineering and a registered Professional Engineer at the University of Manitoba, Canada. He is also the Head of the Manitoba Bio-materials Synthesis and Surface Engineering Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from the University of California, Davis, USA, in 2007 and joined the University of Manitoba, where he was promoted to full professor in 2019. His research focuses on the development of surface engineering technologies for inert semi-crystalline polymers, the development of novel bactericidal and responsive biomaterials, and the micro/nano-encapsulation and targeted delivery of bioactive factors.
