From May 8 to 10, 2026, the finals of the Shayin Cup 7th National College Student Green Dyeing and Finishing Science and Technology Innovation Competition were held at Soochow University. As a concrete action to implement the important spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on promoting green development and fostering harmony between humanity and nature, the National College Student Green Dyeing and Finishing Science and Technology Innovation Competition has become an important platform for advancing textile discipline construction and stimulating youth scientific and technological innovation. The 7th edition, themed Intelligent Dyeing and Finishing, Green Initiatives for a New Journey, attracted 398 works from 33 universities nationwide.
For the first time, the undergraduate category included an experimental operation component, with scores comprehensively assessed through on-site presentations, defenses, and hands-on experiments to fully evaluate students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students from the School of Textiles and Fashion at our university submitted a total of 11 undergraduate works and 6 graduate works. Following rigorous online preliminary reviews by the expert committee and intense on-site competition involving presentations + defenses + practical operations, our university was awarded one first prize, four second prizes, and eight third prizes, fully demonstrating students' innovative thinking and solid experimental skills in the field of green dyeing and finishing.
This participation strengthened exchanges between our university and peer institutions and highlighted the effectiveness of our educational outcomes. The school will continue to deepen the philosophy of promoting learning, teaching, and innovation through competitions to cultivate more high-quality innovative talents.
