On the afternoon of April 23, 2026, the Functional Finishing of Textiles course hosted an enterprise expert classroom session. Mr. Cui Jin, General Manager of Shanghai Yichun Industrial Co., Ltd., and also an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mentor at Shanghai University of Engineering Science as well as an off-campus supervisor for the Master of Materials and Chemical Engineering program, delivered a substantive, practice-oriented professional course on Antibacterial Finishing Technology and Applications in Textiles for Class of 2023 undergraduate students majoring in Textile Engineering. The event was held in Classroom C215 of the Teaching Building.
The course closely aligned with industry development needs, beginning with the functional positioning and application value of antibacterial finishing in modern textiles, and explaining its important role in health protection, functional apparel, and daily-use textiles. It then elaborated on the types and structural characteristics of antibacterial agents, deepening students' understanding of related theories. Throughout the teaching process, typical enterprise case studies were used to analyze antibacterial, anti-mold, and odor-control functional products, and the antibacterial performance evaluation system and testing methods were introduced, helping students build a comprehensive cognitive framework spanning material selection, process implementation, and performance evaluation. Meanwhile, combining enterprise R&D practice, the session presented development trends and innovative directions in functional textiles, broadening students' professional horizons. Classroom interaction was active, with students engaging in in-depth discussions on topics such as antibacterial durability and the coordination between functional finishing and fabric performance.
This enterprise expert classroom session was an important measure to advance industry-education integration, effectively enhancing the practical and applied nature of the course and providing strong support for improving students' professional competence and engineering capabilities. Moving forward, the school will continue to deepen university-enterprise collaborative talent cultivation and continuously optimize the curriculum system and teaching models.
