On the afternoon of December 16, over 100 first-year undergraduate students from the Textile Engineering Department of the School of Textiles and Fashion, under the guidance of Mr. Gao Weihong and Mr. Yang Shu, visited the Shanghai New International Expo Center to tour the 20th Shanghai International Textile Industry Exhibition. This visit was a continuation of the school's Walking Classroom themed research-learning activities and also served as the off-campus practical component of the introductory courses Introduction to Textile Science and Introduction to Nonwoven Materials and Engineering. The activity aimed to help students experience cutting-edge textile technologies up close, broaden their international horizons, stimulate their enthusiasm for learning, and cultivate their scientific literacy.

At the exhibition, students from Textile Engineering and Nonwoven Materials and Engineering separately toured the spinning, knitting, weaving, printing, dyeing and finishing, and related equipment exhibition zones. They witnessed firsthand how technological innovation drives dramatic improvements in production efficiency and reductions in energy consumption, and felt the profound transformation that technology has brought to the textile industry.

Mr. Gao Weihong noted that attending the exhibition allows new students to quickly understand industry development trends and clarify their academic goals and directions. Mr. Yang Shu pointed out that hands-on learning at the exhibition can better stimulate students' curiosity and innovative thinking than classroom lectures alone. Students expressed that the visit not only deepened their understanding of their chosen majors but also enhanced their sense of professional identity and motivation to learn.
Moving forward, the Textile Engineering Department will continue to advance the Walking Classroom series of activities, organizing more students to visit exhibitions, enterprises, and industry events, promoting the high-quality development of the industry-education integration demonstration program, and cultivating more first-class applied innovative talents who meet the needs of industry development.
